All about transfer from Hanoi to Ha Giang loop
Where can you get to Ha Giang from?
The most popular route for tourists to get transfer to Ha Giang loop is the route from Hanoi to Ha Giang. However, to save travel time, tourists can get direct transfer from Sapa to Ha Giang which is also a tourist bus. There are some other routes from Halong Bay, Cat Ba, Ninh Binh to Ha Giang but we do not recommend because of it’s convenience.
How to get there? How long does it take?
The easiest way to travel to Ha Giang is by bus.
The travel distance from Hanoi to Ha Giang is about 300 km. There is no airport or railway station near Ha Giang, so the only option to travel between Hanoi and Ha Giang is taking a bus. It takes 6-7 hours to get from Hanoi to Ha Giang by bus. Depending on the traffic, sometimes the bus arrives 30 minutes earlier or later than scheduled.
Which types of buses and how much does it cost to get from Hanoi to Ha Giang?
There are four types of buses running the route Hanoi to Ha Giang.
Standard Sleeper Bus: double-deck coaches equipped with fixed berths and capacity for 40–46 passengers. The bus is equipped with full leather beds which are smooth and clean. Besides, passengers in the vehicle also enjoy comprehensive services and amenities such as two-way air conditioning, mineral water, wi-fi. These are quite comfortable so you can sleep during most part of the journey.

Cabin Sleeper Bus: double-deck coaches equipped with fixed berths, TV, USB plug, pillow, blanket, and Wi-fi Internet on board. Each cabin has a private space for the passenger covered by curtain.

Limousine Van: minivans that have the interior refurbished with three rows of seats accommodating 9 passengers, or one row of seats at the back and four individual seats in the center accommodating up to 7 passengers. Additionally, there is space for 1 extra passenger in the front of the van, seating next to the driver.

Limousine Bus: Vehicle type: Upgraded from 29-35 seater Hyundai Bus. Passenger’s seats: 15-25 seats in one limousine. These are arranged randomly by Providers.

Where does the bus from Hanoi to Ha Giang depart?
Most buses from Hanoi to Ha Giang depart from My Dinh Bus Station or the representative offices of the bus companies in My Dinh Ward. Some bus companies depart from Hoan Kiem District, in Hanoi’s Old Quarter – Tourist Area.
Please arrive to the point of departure at least 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Note that some bus companies will organize the transfer of passengers from the point of departure to the bus terminal by shuttle bus, therefore customers must show up in advance or risk missing the bus.
Does the bus pick up/drop off passengers at Noi Bai Airport?
Yes, buses will be able to pick up/drop off passengers in Hanoi Airport at the entrance/exit of the domestic terminal. Sometimes will pick-up/drop-off outside of the airport. For this last case, you will have to take a taxi to get from the airport to the pick up point and contact the bus company to arrange the pick up.

Most buses from Hanoi to Ha Giang arrive at Ha Giang Bus Station and the representative offices of the bus companies in Minh Khai Street and Nguyen Trai Street, downtown Ha Giang.
Where to travel next from Ha Giang?
From Ha Giang, you can return to Hanoi or continue traveling by bus to other destinations in Northern Vietnam, such as Sapa, Cat Ba, Ha Long and Ninh Binh.
