Hanoi Kicks Off Tourism 2026: Launches 3 New Destinations and a Series of Unique Experiences

Opening ceremony event “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2026 – Get on Hanoi”

On the evening of January 30th, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the People’s Committee of Tay Ho Ward in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Gia Lai Province and many departments, agencies, and related units organized the program with the theme “Green Tourism Journey.”

This opening event held special significance, deploying the city’s major initiatives to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector, while also responding to the “National Tourism Year 2026 – Gia Lai.”

Through a series of culturally rich and connective tourism activities, the program contributed to spreading the image of the city — a safe, friendly, quality, and attractive destination; while also strengthening tourism linkage and cooperation between the city and localities across the country.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Mr. Tran Trung Hieu, said that 2025 closed with many positive marks for tourism, transitioning from recovery to strong growth, laying a solid foundation to step into 2026.

In the near future, Hanoi tourism will focus on developing in the direction of green – circular – sustainable tourism, strengthening regional linkage, international cooperation, digital transformation, and centering on visitor experiences and satisfaction; so that the sector can truly breakthrough. The city hopes to attract over 35.8 million visitors in 2026, including more than 8.6 million international tourists.

At the event, the city unveiled a cluster of more than 80 typical tourism products for 2026 and issued official decisions recognizing 3 new tourism destinations within the city, including: Hanoi Botanical Garden; Thiet Ung Fine Woodcraft Village; Thuy Lam Tourism Site

The experiential activities were held throughout the three days (from January 30th to February 1st), focusing on introducing new tourism trends in the capital, from ecotourism, craft village tourism, cultural – heritage tourism to creative tourism, community-based tourism, and green tourism associated with social responsibility.

On the first day of the event, the program brought many quintessential Hanoi experiences such as:

  • Enjoying West Lake lotus tea;

  • Participating in creative activities with the theme “Memories of Flag Tower”;

  • “Hanoi Beautiful Sound Night Cycling”;

  • The “Heritage Road of Nam Thang Long – Hanoi” connecting Quang Phu Cau incense craft village (Ung Thien commune) and the silk weaving and dyeing village (Hong Son commune);

  • Experiencing “The Way of Education” at Ha Mo tourism site (O Dien commune), “Tuong Phieu Flower Colors” (Phuc Tho commune)…

On January 31st, residents and visitors could watch “Mong New Year Comes to the City”, a full re-enactment of the Gau Tao Festival, competitions for the most elegant man and woman, and typical cuisine of the Mong people.

On February 1st, the vast space of the Central Highlands was recreated in the capital with the “Gia Lai Tourism Festival in Hanoi.” The sound of gongs and bai choi singing along with tourism photo exhibitions created a close connection between the capital’s tourism and the National Tourism Year – Gia Lai 2026.
